CIW Courseware Updates Posted
Updates for Network Security and Firewalls v7.0 have been uploaded to http://www.ciwcertified.com/resources/Courseware-Updates.asp.
There are updates for E-Commerce v5.1. You may find the information at http://www.ciwcertified.com/resources/Courseware-Updates.asp.
There have been some updates to the CIW Associate Certification courseware in the Internet Business Foundations and Network Technology courses. You may find an errata describing the updates from here, http://www.ciwcertified.com/resources/Courseware-Updates.asp
Staying up to date with courseware changes ensures that you presenting the latest content to your students and preparing them for success both on the exams and the workforce. Be sure to check back here to find more updates.
CIW EMEA Scholarship Winners Announced
Three CIW EMEA scholarship winners for 2008-were recently announced:
- Florian Brunbauer, from Austria, received a €650 scholarship. Brunbauer is a CIW Associate who aspires to earn the CIW Associate Design Specialist and Master CIW Designer certifications.
- Parisa Haghgoo, from Iran, received a €325 scholarship. Haghaoo plans to pursue an IT degree from a Florida university. Haghgoo holds a Master CIW Designer certification.
- Daniella Karayiannis, from South Africa, received a €325 scholarship. Karayiannis earned the Master CIW Designer certification.
The CIW certification program is committed to helping students pursue their higher-education goals by sponsoring three CIW EMEA scholarships each year. To be eligible for a CIW EMEA scholarship, a student must have earned at least one CIW certification. Look for the 2009- scholarship application in late 2008!
CIW scholarship winners announced
We have 3 winners! We were able to review all of the submittersfor the CIW scholarship. That took some time! Recipients for the scholarships are:
- Kaitlin Diemer: $1,000
- Tim Basher: $500.00
- Chris Davis: $500.00
Congratulations one and all! All three of these winners have much to look forward to in their design and development careers.
Western Governors University and CIW Case Study
Western Governors University has adopted CIW as a major part of its IT and Web curriculum. Check out the attached PDF (scroll down) to learn about how they use several certifications, including CIW Foundations, Master Designer, and CIW Database Specialist.
K12 Online Virtual Conference
Kaj Reitberg is an educator, blogger, and podcaster living in Meppel, Netherlands. He teaches students with disabilities. Kaj, Lee Baber, and I meet every Wednesday at 12:30 Pacific time to create a podcast about Web technology issues, concepts and best practices. It's a lot of fun.
In our call today, Kaj let me know about a virtual conference he's helping run. It's called the K12 Online Conference. It's truly virtual and truly global. If you're interested in finding out what's going on in the global K12 community, this is a perfect place in cyberspace to go. Kaj, Lee and I heartily recommend you check it out!

CIW Database Design Specialist certification
We've created a new certification at CIW. Called CIW Database Design Specialist, it solves a fundamental problem in IT: Poorly-designed databases. We created this certification because the industry demanded this kind of knowledge, over and above (and in most cases, before) vendor-specific database knowledge. We're excited to fulfill that demand!
